Eyecofe
aka Iced Coffee, is a cold variant of coffee. Earlier today, when I was walking back from the red shirt-event (which I call red-skirt event) under the bright Bangkok sun a street vendor dealing with coffee caught my eye. On the spot I decided to buy a big Iced Coffee, pronounced here in Thailand as eyecofe.
This woman, presumably trained by some of the very best baristas in the world - or at least in Bangkok - made this delicious beverage in a blink of an eye. She did not ask my name, as is the practice in some Starbucks coffee shops, she did not even ask me to wait for a while, nor did she engage in any kind of smalltalk whatsoever. She just did professionally what she was trained to do: the best eyecofe I had ever had. As you can see from the pictures, this is what a truly busy street-coffee-shop looks like. You have open cans, cups, pots and even a bunch of bees flying around. You don't get wi-fi or the daily papers like you do in Starbucks, but on the other hand you only pay 18 baht. Can you believe it? Yes, that is 0,47 EUR.
